alright, my stock MPFI 2.8 has been running a little rough lately, so i figured hey, why not check the timing. so after i go to three hardware stores to get a universal joint socket for the bolt, i check the timing and it was 16 BTDC, and the tag under the hood says its supposed to be 10. so i set it to 10, and it purrs like a kitten. but when i took it out on the road, it lost almost all torque!!! what do you guys have your timing set at? id really appreciate some help

Mine is set at 12 BTDC.I actually gained 15th of a sec or so.Anymore advance then that I didn't gain anything.

My 2.9 runs fine with that timing.

Mine's at 10 deg advance.. I tried 12 but the car felt sluggish. I suspect it's due to my performance chip; it's probably already advancing the timing for me, and I'm throwing it off.
