which camaro....

this is gonna seem alil odd since its a third gen site, but my Bday is in may and thats when im getting my car. ive been going to the dealer auctions for my dads work with him, and while i was trying to find a nice little 91 or 92 V6 5 spd, i keep coming across these 97 3.8L v6 5spd convertables, AND they have that cool 30th aniv. symbol on the seats . i was jsut wondering what you guys would do, keep looking for a 92 or just grab a real nice 97 out of the auction?

Get what ever YOU want. If you move on to a 4th gen. Your still in the f-body family.

i know, but tats the thing, i DONT know that i want. ive been in love with camaros since i was 6. back then third gens were new, thats how i came to like em. then i joined this board thinking i would get one and be happy and never really thought about a fourth gen, but my dads work got to me. whenever my dad brings home a 99 or 2000 or 2001 camaro SS or trans am i always tell myself i dont want it, i want the older ones. then i accually drove the newer 5.7 V8 and i KNEW the insurance would be hell. so i went back to third gens. and then i drove the 3.8L v6 and i dont know what i want now. there both just as hard to find (91 or 92 V6 5 spd t tops or 1997 3.8L V6 5 spd convertable or ttops). so what would you guys do

I did something simular, I planed on buying a thirdgen Camaro because I liked the rims and GFX better, but then bought a Firebird.

Well, the 97 seems pretty apealing, but death on insurance, if you carry collision thats it your done(miney wise), its way to high as it is without collision.

But if it were me, and I was paying the whole shot, I'd buy an older one, cheaper for parts, and insurance. But if, lets say your parents were to chip in a certian amount, and you were to pay the rest, I would then go with the 97, probably less to go wrong with it the first while...

But I've read on the CamaroZ-28 board, that the V-6's are put together sloppy, and simple things were breaking quite often, I would say go to www.Camaroz28.com and register, and ask what problems people are having with them.

thx, my dad is the used car manager at winkelly chevrolet so parts and warranty are not a problem. also my parents are paying my whole insurance and buying the car. all i gotta do is not get in an accident and pay for some gas/mods

but thx i will sign up there...anyone else?

also i was planning on selling my car and buying an iroc, or a newer style LT4 or w/e they are, the fsat a$$ ones so i figured a 30th aniv. would get more $ then a plain old 92

I don't know what part of the car you think is sloppy, but if it is the engine you are talking about then you are mistaken. The series II 3.8 is one of the finest that GM has put out IMHO.

i believe the 3800 series II 3.8l v6 is one of the best v6's around. Mine has 99k miles on it and i haven't had ANY trouble with it.

thx, i hate to leave 3rd gens but this is my "order" list that im giviing to my dad and telling him to buy in this order..

Everything in this order, even ( )

1997 Camaro (rs, regular) 3.8L V6 [he wants the v6] 5 spd open top (convertable, t top)

1992 camaro RS 3.1L v6 5 spd t tops

1991 camaro RS 3.1L v6 5 spd t tops

any year above 92 5 spd convertable

everything must atleast have power windows locks and sterring, anything above 92 must have ABS and power top, 92s must have best braking available at the time, clutch must be strong, and needs to be in such good condition that nothing needs fixing AT ALL. engine must be under 80,000 miles/

end.

such a easy son to work with, dont u think
