any ideas ?

My 90 Firebird runs great for 8-15 mins then just shuts off .Let it sit for 10 mins or so then it starts runs great then shuts off again .It has an 3.1 V6 with new computer, coil, dist, plugs, wires, egr valve, throttle pos. sen.,and most of the other sensors etc.The wiring harness underhood was just replaced also .steering column too.Ive been all through the car (the guy i got it from had it real messed up).I dont know if i have tunnel vision or what .Im thinking now that the fuel pump might be over heating and shutting off .The guy i got the car from had cut out the plug for the fuel pump which i have replaced with a new one and soldered and shink wrapped etc.Any help would be great thanks(my IROC and Z28 are getting jealous from all the time and money ive been giving the Firebird)thanks again.

Re: any ideas ?

ICM might be overheating if it wasn't installed with dielectric grease, coil could also overheat if for whatever reason its not on the original bracket and can't dissipate the heat it produces properly.

OK, new distributor didn't fix it? That was one item that is common (ICM or pick up coil goes out).

The next one is the injectors. The coils are shorting out preventing any injector from firing. If they are OEM Multecs just replace them. Don't even bother checking them.

See South Bay injectors for a reman set of Bosch.

Re: any ideas ?

Ive been so frustrated with it ,i finally decided to leave it alone this weekend.Take a break from it and see if anybody had any thoughs. Then get back to it with a clear head this week. I didnt even think of the fuel injectors .You just may be onto something .The under hood wiring harness had several problems so i replaced it .The fuel injectors could have been damaged before the fix .The previuos owner had relaced them but with the wiring issues they could be damaged.Im not sure which injectors are in it will check .If thier multec ill change them.If thier bosch think i should test them first.I remember checking a set in a previous F-body of mine with a multimeter .Do you know the procedure im not sure if i remember it.If not no biggie ill dig through my manuals. If they are bad ill check out south bay get new ones .Thanks so much i will give update soon.thanks again "Jason"
