Inline fuel pumps?

I was sitting in spanish today making my endless lists of parts and plans for the SC'ed L32 project, and I was thinking I'll need a pump that will give high pressure, so wouldn't it be nice to just have an in-line pump, rather then some damn in-tank monstrosity? My other question is could I hook up the in line pump, and just disconnect the in tank, or would I have to remove it, too? Thanks ahead.

I've heard of guys that have hooked up an in-line pump to replace their dead in-tank pump. They've left the in-tank pump in, and the external pump does pull the fuel out.

But I gotta wonder, isn't that a restriction? And how the heck are these external pumps mounted? I've never seen a picture.

The pump would work. The fluid passing the dead pump should turn the mechanism, but it may be locked up. What you could do to mount it is put it in place of the fuel filter. Then just mount a fuel filter in the engine comparetment; where you sgo from hard line to rubber line to hard line of the fuel injection.

Unless you don't have the tools, replacing the fuel pump is not extremely that bad. Just try to have someone help you. I am one in favor of creating a hatch for the fuel pump. That way you only have to do it once. That is what I did. Plus, a Walbro FP only cost $100.(they are intank)

Twice I have ran my car extremely out of gas. Each time I have done so the pump locked up. Both times I replaced it, a swift kick in the *** has unlock whatever clogged it. I still replace it though. I bought mine from AutoZone and it has a lifetime warranty.

Hope this helps.
