From: milwaukee wisc,
had this prob with my girl friends chevy astro van. yeah anything under 1500rpm or just lightly on the gas cruising it starts bucking. if you give it gas it goes away right.trust me its your transmission 700r4
i disconnected the overdrive it doesent do it very often now but its just temporary when i did that it cured 75% of the bucking
i told her to take it in and have someone look at it.

i just posted the same question two days ago FastRS, except mine starting doing the same thing after i installed new platinum +4's, i think they either caused some misfiring or arching in the distributor cap. I havent figured it out totally but post if u find out what it is please.

fast RS, 2 questions how new is your tranny? was it rebuilt 100% correctly?

does it NOT buck if you are really light on the throttle, and also NOT in WOT?

if so, mine does it too. my tranny was rebuilt in july, it's been worse as of late. last thing I and my mechanic friend can figure is that it's a checkball out of place in the valvebody. the tranny had everything transferred over other than the valvebody and the governor gear. it doesn't shift into D (3rd) @ WOT and shifts into second @ 4700, even If I try to manually hold it in first. we figured it was the governor gear. nope changed it today. no dice. He still has my shell laying around @ the shop. last resort is the valvebody. the valvebody in it now is from a '88 s10 w/ a TBI 2.8. maybe the valvebodies are different. anybody know. either way, I figure swap valve bodies, and see how it goes.

btw, I think the valvebodies are different, since truck 2.8's prolly shifted gears @ 5000. so, It might be a checkball. my car has sucked performance wise since last year, and I hope this brings it back.

oh yeah, the moral of the story is that you should make sure the checkballs are in the proper locations.

My 2.8 Blazer did the same thing, except it would do it throughout the entire throttle range, and it felt like a miss sorta. It wasn't quite as bad. What was weird is it would do it for a while (2-3 weeks) then completely stop for a while, and start again. Never did find the problem, I sold it to buy my car while it was in one of its good moods.

Try replacing the pickup coil. My 89 used to have this problem a lot, and it was ALWAYS the coil. I probably replaced it 5 or 6 times in 2 years.

the ignition coil? I changed it in dec. might be. prolly not in my case. I think I'm gonna shoot myself if I can't figure out the prob. might be a combination of tranny and a loose gas line in my case. anyone wanna buy my car? $2500
