I'm thinking about..
I've got to get new high performance spark plugs and wires and all that good stuff put on in a couple weeks...but after that, I'm thinking about putting a high performance short ram air intake on and a dynomax cat back exhaust. I'd like the very small gain in horsepower lol. My car is a 3.1 though and I don't want it to sound too *****.. I don't think the air intake would.. but the exhaust worries me. I'm not even considering flowmasters for this car. But I've read that dynomax exhausts sound decent on V6s.. what do you all think?

I have pacesetter headers+y-pipe, magnaflow cat and dynomax catback, and it sounds great, unfortunately I don't have an exhaust clip anymore and have the engine apart for more woes atm. Idk if it would sound as good on a near stock engine and without headers though since I did a whole new exhaust at once.

Re: I'm thinking about..
Face it, a v6 will never have that mean grumble of a v8, but they can sound decent. I have found that longer glasspacks usually help out a v6 a alittle, but it is all personal preference. Just remember that going down the highway, our 6's will always sound like pissed-off bee-hives, so try to keep the resonance out of the cabin, and you will be good.

Mine sounds good at any rpm actually, most of the 3rd gen v6s get that nasty rasp/rattley/dingy type sound at high rpm.

Re: I'm thinking about..
I'm also getting my manifolds resurfaced and have an exhaust leak fixed..maybe that would help the sound. Id love it to sound beast when I rev it up or drive around...but since its a V6, I wont be asking for much...

Getting high performance plugs isn't really necessary. You won't gain anything from them and the cheapo AC Delco plugs will do the job just fine on these engines. Before the car was given to me my dad decided to put bosch 4's and 8mm plug wires and it used more gas and ran like poo. Best thing to do before trying to get more power is do a complete tune up. I did Tom P's Major Tuneup https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/v6/6...or-tuneup.html
