Fan problem...

OK, heres the situation. When I originally got my car it had two wires coming out of the dash that I had to twist together to make the fan work.

I ended up changing that by running the power wire to a fuse so that the fan would come on when I start the car.

It worked fine for about a month, until today when my windshield wipers stopped working. Checked the fuse and sure enough that was the issue. In fact the fuse was melted all to heck.

I am wondering if there is a safer more efficient "poor mans" way to rig this up. Normally I would put the assembly back the correct way, but I am low on funds at the moment.

Any would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Fan problem...

You could just route the two wires into a switch and use it to manually power the fan.

Re: Fan problem...

Either buy a seperate fan controller and wire it in (easy & $40 - $90), or read my second post in this thread to use a relay and get that high amperage wiring out of your fuse panel: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/cool...ctric-fan.html

I myself run a Flex-a-lite fan controller from summit, $90 but is fully adjustable and doesnt use any of the old factory wiring/relays - best $ I ever spent.
