3.1 Liter Oil Pressure

I have a 1991 Pontiac firebird, recently had to change my oil pressure sending unit(my gauge just stopped at 80!) So i changed it last night and now at idle the pressure shows just one line above the red. And at 95 down the freeway it barely reads above 45 pounds of pressure. Does any know what the normal pressure range should be? I am just concerned about my baby. Could it be the physical gauge in the dash? I have a mechanical pressure tester, which i will try when i find out where it should be when. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yours sound pretty correct.
When it's cold, it go high.
When it warms up, it's about that range.
That's good pressure, your block must still be rather solid.
Using 5-30wt oil?

hey 9D1BURD
what did you use to take it off i've tried almost every wrench and adjustable wrench possible and it still wont come off. ****. is there a special tool you got or what. I need mine to be changed. also which one did you change because mine is an 88 and i have on right above the oil filter and another one right above that one. If i reconnect the one right above the one next to the oil filter the gauge reads. so that one must be it right??? Im so lost people tell me it the one right above the oil filter but that one is connected.

I just used a pair of vise grips. turned it real slow.(only because i could only move about half an inch each turn) It took a few minutes but it came off. Now for having to sending units, i am not sure. My car has one sending unit that sends the signal to both the gauge and the computer. I would assume that yours has one unit for gauge and computer.(if i am wrong someone please let me know, but why else would he have two?)Unless you talking about you coolant tempature sending unit? I know mine is about two inches above my oil sending unit. Hoped i helped.
