HELP ME I'M MELTING
HELP ME I'M MELTING
I HAVE AN 89 CAMARO WITH A V-6 FUEL INJECTED ENGINE. I KEEP BURNING CAPS AND ROTORS EVERY TWO WEEKS. CHANGED THE COIL, CONTROL MODULE, SPARK PLUGS, AND WIRES, AND CHECKED GROUNDS. I STILL CAN NOT FIND OUT WHY THEY KEEP MELTING. IT HAS 200,000 MILES AND RUNS GREAT OTHERWISE. ANY INSIGHT???? THANK YOU
hmm...well I suppose you don't know if its outside heat or internal. You might want to drill a small 1/16 or smaller into your next cap. This will let some flow from the cap and get rid of some of the ionizaion that happens inside the cap. Other than that I have no clue what could be causing it...

Is the plastic itself melting, or are the terminals getting eaten away?

Well if the back of the cap should be fine...and no it will not hurt the integrity of the cap. there should be one in the cap already but it may be too small... just do not drill the hole directly below a contact point.
