EFI and Mods
EFI and Mods
Alright guys here's a good question for yea ok right now im running a 2.8L with the 2 carb also a auto 700r4 tranny. Right now im in the process of doing some mods and was wondering on some of your guys opinions on them
Im installing an EFI system on the 2.8 the engine is newly rebuilt so any mods won't mess it up. Also throwing on K&N filter, dynomax muffler, Not sure on what type of upgrade for the mass airflow sensor if one is needed, there are turbo's available for the 2.8s but u got to know what the heck your doing when u slide it on because there are mods that need to be done in other terms jerry rig the thing :-). Not sure on what rearend gearing i should be doing i think the 3.42 gears are ok but does anyone have any personal experience on different gear ratios and can give me an idea on what u think is best. Also changing the auto tranny over to a manual just doesn't feel right driveing a auto in a camaro u need stick :-) installing a mod chip when i get the efi done and changing the distributor over to a electronic ignition (think thats the name) anyother ideas or what u think of this combo please help and give info i want something good on gas and can haul some a** when needed I definetly like the pickup on the pontiac 6000 se they are the exact same engine and haul some *** stock

Well, what shall he be told?
IF ya like wiring projects, have at it.

And no guarantee it will cooperate, code wise to make it run right.

Tell him Karl with a 1974 Corvette & 1968 Camaro sent ya.
Tell him what ya need & he'll help ya.
Go get a Moroso or Accel distributor tune up kit with springs and weights.
All ya want are the springs. Install heavy/strong ones, leave the factory weights as is.
Pull apart the entire distributor. Clean shaft, sand it smooth/grease it put it back together with the new parts & Accel cap & rotor.
Add new coil (MSD or ACCEL, I Like Accel)
Add new plug wires.
Rebuild carb. Install on the intake.
Hook up all the hoses etc.
Have fun.
Later on, go get a 3.4 short block or install a 2.8/3.1 cam (same cam) and have a bit more fun.
Increase strength of the tranny and have more fun, and buy new tires.
You'll now need them
