i know, i've been in mexico for a week, so i've come back with an avalanche of questions, just because i havent been able to get my daily installment of this message board.
i noticed in pictures of sammycalderons v6, that he had one of those circular air filters that are found in the v8s. what is this? and can anyone do that to their car? does that perform better than the two square ones in the front of the engine bay? thanks and don't worry, i'll think of somehtin else to post in a couple minutes. oh i know.....i wanna try to make one of those air intakes with pvc pipes that everyone seems to do for $20 from home depot supplies. seems like there gettin an extra 20 horses outta this, but the whole macguyver approach seems a little shakey to me. all thoughts are welcome, unless there dumb, keep those at home.

as for the PVC intake part of your question, you are probably talking about my setup in the post a little farther down on the board. as for and extra 20 horses....dunno about that. i would say i felt a good pull at higher RPMs after doing it, and after doing my exhaust it is probably netting me 8-10....thats just a guess though. i am hoping to dyno my car soon...i am curious to make a run with it and without it to see what a difference it has. but, yea, for about 10.00 in pipe you have a much free-er flowing intake. and yea, it is definately mgiver-ish.....buuuut, you don't have anything to worry about. i have had mine done for a year and half now. and i run it in the harsh CT winters and warm summers and never have had a probably. its never fallen out and never had any other troubles with the engine or performance either....just thought maybe i could clear some doubt....but its all up to you....your car. dunno if you saw it but heres another pic.

Method, keep your twin-filter design. The "macguyver" approach to building your own ram-air is a well-proven design. That's the best intake GM designed for our cars. Stock-for-stock, that dual-snorkel intake beats out the side-air-box intake. Work-for-work, the dual-snorkel will still beat out the side-air-box, for one main factor- the dual-snorkel intake is a STRAIGHT-ON "shot" to the throttle body. Anything off to the side induces turbulence from the air taking turns.
