what other mods can i do to my carburated 2.8

 

Since I just did this to my truck 2.8 1985
Swap on the MPFI heads, rebuilt, new guides.
rebuild distributor & stick in new internals (go to www.kayauto.com for the parts ya need, you have a federal distributor set up), new aftermarket coil, too & new plug wires & such.
Rebuild the carb, stock, bone stock.
DEFINETLY RE-BUSH The THROTTLE SHAFT PLATE, especialy the primary side.
Then just slap it back together.
If ya want, you can put lighter distributor weight springs in the distributor, that helps alot!
Open up the air intake & also hi-po the exhaust.
You're done. There's not awhole lot more to do.
UNLESS ya wanna go get another factory intake and grind down divider & slap on a Helloy 500CFM 2-bbl.

1985 Firebird 2.8 to 3.4 swap project for Smog Happy LA, CA

 

Port/Polish your heads, get an eletric fan, get the edlebrock manifold, get the supercharger for 2.8 carbs, get a cam something like wolverine since you don't have a computer it will work, look int o1.6 or 1.52 roller rockers, consider a double roller chain, get a nice 500 CFM carb...

 

Most people will tell you to start with a good tune up (if you haven't already). When I first got my car running it was really out of tune and was missfiring, it couldn't even spin the tires on gravel. Tuned it up, now it runs great.
