Fuel pump or relay?

I had the fuel pump replaced on my 90 V-6 firebird about 6 years ago and now it seems like it is doing the same thing. I read the FAC part and it said that the fuel pump relay could be the problem. Has any one every found this to be true. The car only starts in the morning and runs like crap but if I try starting it in the afternoon it just cranks over and will not run. I let the mechanic replace the fuel pump last time but do not want to spend another $300 , so how hard is it to replace the fuel pump on a 90 V-6 Firebird?

The fuel pump relay is automatically bypassed as soon as the oil pressure builds. Even with the relay shot it'll start, it just cranks a little longer. Listen to the relay, if it clicks when you turn the key to run its fine.
