Yeah, it fits, but ya can't close the hood. The front nose underhood bracing of the Firebird Hood hits the air cleaner unit as it goes over the radiator support.
So, it is out.
I was gonna try a straight shot from the passenger side turn signal (convert that to an air scoop) to the air cleaner and that won't work, either. Underhood bracing strikes again. Along with the motor for the headlight assembly. So I am back to the Trans Am air scoops, and an air out let from the underhood bracing infront of the air box OR?????. Many other designs, the hosing is so long, I can't see it as working as well as a straight shot. I do not want to cut lots of sheet metal. Looking at your pics Graeme (is that a 1967 Cutlass Supreme convert in the background or a 442?), your air inlet is about the best Firebirds may do, except to spend more than my car is worth on a hood scooped hood (as perfect and beautiful a design that hood is). After I finish off my Motorcycle (it runs again but... hey, it's a project!), I'll play with the Firebird again.

I can also only look at it this way. I have to clean the air cleaners on my Corvette, and my Wife's 1968 Camaro (K & N's). I've had this Firebird for almost three years now and I've never cleaned that K & N air cleaner! It never needs it!
