Question, i was told by some people on general tech board that my ECM and Prom are most likely my problem. Symptoms: Constant fluctuating of temp, constant fluctuation of air/fuel ratio, terrible gas mileage (usually about 10mpg in city and sometimes 30mpg on freeway, or it will be opposite and ill get 8mpg on freeway) If you guys think their correct, im gonna get a new ac delco computer and also an ads superchip. Lemme know! Thanks Guys!

Autozone or Kragen..i checked both of them, and they have to be bought online though.

GO TO THE WRECKING YARD!!
Findout from a Hollander book what cross references to your car.
I paid FREE FOR MINE!!!!
I bought a 1985 V-8 version & sold my old one for the same price I paid.
That swap of teh PROM was llI need to do to make my application match my car!!!
IF ya shop on line, keep looking at other crs & THEN HIT THE YARDS!!!! LOT CHEAPER TOO!!
BUT, will that ecm cause all those solutions?
Don't know.
My problem was my fan was on constant. Swapped ECM & problem went away.
I wouldn't use any chips. Use factory first, to get right everything, then play with a chip!

Call 818-786-3350 & ask for Steve (@Curt's Auto Wrecking), tell him I sent ya. See if they have a ECM for ya! He may!!

I only diagnosed one bad ECM; my dad's old Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera ('87). It kept throwing the SES light and giving a knock sensor error code; when I bypassed the knock sensor with a resistor, the computer still showed a code. I traced all the wiring from the computer to the sensor, and it was good. A junkyard computer took care of it.

I have heard, hehe, that you can slap a suspected bad ECM with your hand a few times while the car is running. If the car stumbles, the ECM is bad- the idea is that the solder connections are weak.

I'd also vote for a junkyard ECM over a reman'd one; at the least, you'll know whether or not the ECM replacement fixes the problem. Then you're not out $300 (or whatever they cost) for an Autozone computer!

Maybe someone on the Motor Swap board that went from V6->V8 has their ECM & PROM lying around.
