Re: just picked up a 92 rs v6

There are many members on here with that kind of mileage and still running strong. It really all comes down to how the previous owners took care of it if the oil is clean and hasn't been changed recently it could be a good sign or a sign that it has an oil leak and the previous owner added oil to it. First thing I would do with any used car I buy would be a tune up to make sure it's running it's best, inspect the underside for any possible engine or tranny leaks that could be troublesome and inspect the brakes.

I would replace every single original wear item on the car: suspension bushings, rebuild or replace engine and trans, fuel pump+filter, air filter/s, SP wires, spark plugs, dizzy, cap+rotor, ignition coil, vacuum lines, heater hoses, rad hoses, weatherstripping, coil springs and shocks, swaybar endlinks, ball joints, wheel bearings etc.

Re: just picked up a 92 rs v6

i was thinking about swaping out the motor but i just came in from cleaning out the car and in that lock box in the back i found a ton of recepits in cluding one from GM for a new long block instaled at 187653 miles and 2 years ago and a trans rebulid at the same time i guess that is why it runs so darn good lol it only has about 20,000 miles on it but i am deffinetly go thru everything elsa like you said and decide what to do with a swap dont know what i want yet
