Starting problems :(
i am a happy owner of my camaro but lately i am having problems geting it to start...
-the engine turns
-fuel pump makes a little sound...
-i can smell fuel
-start problem happens after a quick run/ close distance...
scenerio: i went up to radio shack,(less than 1 mile away i park it in the lot, go in to the stoire get my stuff... i go back out to the car and turn the key, the engine acts like it is starting it ignites and rumbles like normal but within a split second it stalls and i cant start it at all...
-i loosen the fuel cap and i hear the pressure being released
-sometimes when same scenario, i try to start it and it does that same thing ( starts for like 1/2 of a second and then stalls... if i again try to turn the key, the engine turns but wont ignite... sometimes i hear bubbling towars the back of my car around the gas tank...(sometimes if i hear this i can loosen the cap and it will start) but didnt work for today...
tell me what you think
could it be a fuel pump problem?

do you pump the pedal to start? if so you could be flooding the system and it will automatically cut off. If not, check the plugs they can tell you a little. Does it(The engine) rotate right off? or do you have to turn nothing happens then turn and it rotates?. well you have 2 things nocked out alreay in finding the solution Fuel and air, Thats leaves spark. The Distrib may be new but hows the ignition modulator? is it new? have little to no resistance? hows the coil? The pick Up?
Sounds like theres a draw for a second that it cannot accomadate for and sometimes the engine can "fub" its way through and others it can't.

like hunter said , you might have a new cap , and its prabably fine , but your plugs and wires maybe good , but you may have a bad coil or pick-up or modulator ...I think Im not totally 100% sure but I think when my coil went out , before I was having the same symptoms as you . Wayne .....goodlook
