89 RS 2.8L Hot Start Problems

89 RS 2.8L Hot Start Problems

Lately my 89 RS 2.8l has been having hot start problems. My car runs great when i first start it up in the morning, and starts up/runs great after the original start if i leave it off for 30 minutes or so. If i restart my car before within the 30 minutes of being off it runs horrible. It chugs and misses, and usually stalls out the first time i apply the brakes. Also my car runs far better in cold weather than in hot weather. Anyone know what i could do to correct this problem??

Make sure your not over heating. You mind want to try chaning your thermostat to like a 160 degree instead of the stop 195.

Is it very warm in your state? I'm wondering if you have a problem with something regarding open/closed loop... like, a bad oxygen sensor (or melted oxygen sensor wire). Altho, closed loop shouldn't occur right after starting the motor...

What if you start the car, let it run okay for 5 minutes, then turn it off- will it start back up okay again?

I replaced the 160 degree thermostat about 2 months ago with a 195 because the 160 was running far to cold.

I live in Ohio, so its not really that warm here.
If i let it run for 5 mins then turn it off, it usually runs alright.
the car doesnt stall out while in idle, it stalls when i brake to come to a complete stop.
