Have you check the codes yet. It will help narrow down the problem.

I am guessing good old code 32, were you doing like 70 when it came on, seems common for that code. It flashes up whenever it wants, and "usually" there is nothing wrong.

Check the codes and tell us what the problem is.

Here is a tech article that talks directly about Code 32 (EGR or ECM).

https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/t...diagnose.shtml

And in the main FAQ there is instructions on how to pull the codes from your ECM. Even thou the light is off the code is stored in memory.

HTH!

If you are in fact getting a code 32 check the vacuum line that goes back to the black box by the ignition coil. There is a 1/4 inch rubber fitting that was rotted away on mine thus causing a vacuum leak.

There's two ways to get the codes in that link; you want to jump the rightmost two pins in the UPPER row of the ALDL.

32... EGR? That's what the "box" is by the spark coil.. on the vacuum-operated EGR's, that's the EGR diagnostic switch. If the diag switch doesn't "see" a vacuum when the computer turns the EGR solenoid (cylinder looking thing by the spark coil), it sets 32.
