water in my Motor oil?
ok so i wanna know how water got in my motor. today i drained my oil and noticed water in my motor. i know it was not antifreeze since it was not green. only reason i noticed this now was because my car miraculously over heated two nights ago in 30 degree weather. it never goes over 220 in that cold weather. especially with open roads. i went to my local car shop to buy a new thermostat and just decided to check my oil level when i noticed it.... a sludgly tan colored substance all over my dipstick. clearly water in oil. hoping i didnt crack a head or broke a gasket.
can water go in thru the intake into the valve covers thru that little metal pipe going from the boot to the valve cover?. i have a home made cai that sits inside the fender to catch open air. maybe it got sucked up by that and went into the covers and thru my system? if so will changing my oil frequently for awhile help me out tryna get rid of the water? any help is great. i dont have much funds to rip apart the block and get the water out that way. so i kinda want to hear good news. ill post a pic of the water to oil comparison when i get a hold of all the oil out of the car.
thanks guys. really need your help

Re: water in my Motor oil?
Most likely head gasket or intake gasket with my money on headgasket since it overheated. It wont look green in you engine oil. It will look like a chocolate milk shake. Best bet is to do a compression/leakdown test.

Re: water in my Motor oil?
I just had to replace my head gaskets 2 days ago. Same milky oil that your talking about.
Head gaskets are cheep. 20 bucks for a set. BUY new head bolts as there only 25 bucks at autozone(iI just learned that the hard way), and buy a intake manifold gasket set(20 bucks at autozone) All felpro stuff..
So the job isnt exspencive, it just takes awhile. If your good at doing it, I got it done in about 7 hours total. And I torqed everything down to specs. If not plan a weekend on getting it done, as a shop would charge a ton for a job like that.
A compression check is a good valuable number to read. I did mine before and after the head gasket replacement and was relieved that the compression was still good. If you dont have the guage, rent one at a parts store, or ask arround.
Look over everything well, the heads and the block. Change the oil alot till you see the oil is normal again once you get it up and running. Drain the oil out ASAP and when you got the heads off, just dump some oil or diesel down the valley(leave the oil plug out) so that the milky crap can just drain out. It helped speed up the process for me. Thats just my experience on the matter.

Re: water in my Motor oil?
if it comes down to that i might just do that. im sure its really time consuming but your right about the shop charging alot. nothing a few beers cant help me with haha. plus a friend to help me out to get it done quicker.
i wont think its a broken gasket since the car was not smoking at all. only thing i noticed was it got harder and harder to turn the car on after i noticed the water. before it would never struggle. now it turns on like my battery was dying. have to give it a bit of gas so it turns over on time.
