Faster V6?
Hey guys is there anything I can do like within budget range that is responable that I can do to my 84 firebird 2.8 carb'd? Like i was thinking of making a carbd 3.1 and I have another thread for that. Besides a turbo or a supercharger what can I do????

Re: Faster V6?
Don't get a 3.1, make the little bit of extra effort to find a 3.4 from a 93-95, its just as easy a swap, but more displacement and power. Also, read my sticky for ideas of what you can do, that's what I wrote it for, a general guideline to give newbies some direction.

If you want some good power ditch the carb, and go EFI. "IMO"

A carb can make as much power, though the stock carbeurators are worthless, and they are computer controlled if memory serves, making them more so.

Re: Faster V6?
Hey project, a little off subject here but do you happen to know any subframe connectors that fit a v6 without much modification?
Thanks.
Ok back on topic.
If I was rich ( damn it I'm not) I'd have project build me an engine. I can't do that kinda stuff anymore. 2 neck surgeries and a blown out left knee won't allow me too.
Thanks.

Re: Faster V6?
@ special edition, I understand you like the carbed cars and muscle theme, but always keep in mind you have a pre 1985 V6 engine in there. IIRC those valve on the heads are sig smaller then post 85 60* engines. Anyone remember if thats correct?

Re: Faster V6?
the ex routing is the same on v8/v6 cars, the only difference is the ypipe, well that and the v6 cars have smaller ex pipes
but other then that the cats are in the same location and the pipes are in the same location

Re: Faster V6?
There are sfc's that will not.clear stock exhaust. Others that will. There is nothing diffrent with a v6 car that will prevent the usage of a set of sfc's that would otherwise fit a v8 car.

Re: Faster V6?
Yep. Edelbrock makes what you need. Not cheap, and not worth the cost. Cheaper to drop in a stock 305 with a stock Q-Jet, unless you can find both the lower and upper Edelbrock parts used, and that's really unlikely. But that's really your only option for not upgrading to EFI. If you are going that route, stick it on a cammed '93-'95 3.4L with Pacesetter headers and Y-pipe for best results.
