anyone know what this guy is talking about?
this guy came and bought my monte carlo and we got talking about my camaro sitting next to it. i told him the fuel pump isnt turning on when i turn the key over and the fuel pump, relay, and fuses have been checked\replaced. he asked if i had a chip in my key. i looked and did. he said that it was a theft thing and sometimes the tilt steering can loosen some wires or something and cause the car not to start. fuel pump not turning on be one of the things it does. has anyone ever heard of this? he really didnt explain much and i have no idea what wires to check.

not positive, but im pretty sure the fuel pump does kick on and prime. VATS disables cranking and injector pulse. everything else i believe works

correct vats does not diable the fuel pump
make sure ur fuel pump is getting power with the key on and while cranking the engine
fold down the rear seat and pull up the carpet off the hump behind the seat
once u do that u will see a 3 wire connector, disconect it and probe the leads with a test light while osmone cranks the motor over if u get no power then either the relay is bad or the fuse is bad or u have a break in the power wire somewhere
if u do get power back there the fuel pump is bad

Re: anyone know what this guy is talking about?
Check for codes... You may either have a code 46 (VATS, disables the fuel injectors, NOT the fuel pump) or a code 54 (fuel pump circuit fault). If the pump is receiving power but not running, it's probably the pump... Check the fuel pressure, as was said above, after checking for codes.
