roots blown v6

i figured some of u guys would be interested in this build , this is just a one off build for myself ive always wanted to have a f-body with a blower hanging out the hood but 6-71 and 8-71 blowers on a sbc are very exspensive.

i ended up scoring a 4-71 blower on ebay im for the most part keeping th ebuild thread in the power adder section as if i run into any problems more ppl there will be able to help versus the v6 section

but feel free to post in this thread or the one in the power adder section with comments questions or advice
check this thread for mor einfo
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/powe...ng-boards.html

btw i cant wait till the blower gets here in the next few days , this is deffinatly going to be a one of a kind build for a 3rdgen v6 f-body

Re: roots blown v6

The ultimate question once it's done will be how does it compare with a turbo set up? Easy of fabrication. Tuning. Response compared to say a single large turbo or small twin turbo set up. I'm thinking in terms of auto-x and road course as opposed to drag racing. High up weight is not good for the twists. Get it done!

Re: roots blown v6

yeah u wouldnt want this for autox or road course racing it would be liek having a 6inch cowl hood on the car blocking ur view

as far as power wise the 4-71 is pretty dam capable lil blower, they are even used on sbf sbc and sb mopars so they can support a bunch of power

in all honesty id be happy with 275 crank cause with off idle boost it will be a tq monster, more so then my turbo v6

though im more then sure it wouldnt be a problem to make 350-375 hp

Re: roots blown v6

I drove a friends GTP the other weekend, it's a high 13 sec car. And I have to say the amount of tq off idle on that car is sick. It felt faster off the line for sure compared to mine, which we know is laggy. But in the top end is seems like there is no boost/power curve. So it feels the same the whole pull. But I did love the low RPM responce on a supercharged V6. It is fun as helll to drive.

Im hoping you get this up and going this year, it looks interesting as I dont think anyone has put together a thirdgen supercharged V6 before?? Not that I know of.

I was looking for pictures of a roots blown 2.8L that was in a Citation back in the early '80s, but can't seem to find it right now. It looked kinda odd, with the supercharger sitting sideways, and off to the passenger side. lol

yepp, although i don't believe they had any kind of blower just a 2.8 with an aggressive (for its time) cam and I've heard (don't know if its true) it was bored out from the factory .20 over compared to other 2.8s,

edit: although there was this crazy thing http://www.gt.ppdictionary.com/gm_pr...tation_X11.jpg
