3.1l no start

Car died while driving. Replace MAP sensor, TPS, IAC, Cap, Rotor, Coil, Pick-up, Plugs and Wires.

No change

After almost a month of tinkering i pulled out the distributor to change the leaky gasket, put it back in and set the base timing with the est wire unplugged.

car started and ran fine, high idle to operating temp and then normal idle for almost 30min. I shut the car off to plug in the est wire and boom, it wouldn't restart. Not even a hit. Unplugged EST wire, still no start. Hasn't started since, or tried for that fact. Checked spark off of coil with a spark tester and it's orange. I know that's weak, but why? And why intermittent? Can someone give me an idea on why a new coil would through weak spark? What should the harness wires read at Key On and Crank?

Thanks for the help forum, it's been nearly 2 months and I miss my F-body!

Did you replace the ICM? I had some weird problems when mine was bad.

Still a no start, right. I'd check the fuel pressure, injector pulse, & engine codes.

Re: 3.1l no start

spray starting fluid into the intake, if it will not even try to start, you have bad spark, if it will try, you have bad fuel

will give you a direction to follow atleast

Re: 3.1l no start

did u checc fore injector pulse??? mine did the same thing except it would start off brake cleaner. what i did was by pass the security system. see if you have injector pulse or even just put your key in the ignition and unplug the 2 small white wires that have a orange insulation around it and do a resistance checc there. 1st measure the resistance of your key then checc those wires. or if you have access to a scanner use that instead and it should pull up a code 45 i think it was. that'll be a vats code. try that and let me know how it goes. if its not that though then the only other thing is the pcm isn't grounding the injectors. the injectors in these engines are a batch fire style. it pulses 3 injectors at a time instead of each individually. theres only 2 grounds for the injectors and those grounds are in the pcm. well let me know if this helps at all
