Does a rear power steering bracket exist for non ac cars?
Does a rear power steering bracket exist for non ac cars?
My AC is long gone. My first front bracket was broke. So I am afraid of running it without the rear bracket. The rear bracket prevents me from movin to the correct hole on the cylinder head. Is there a rear bracket for non ac cars? Also, what is the correct belt length I will need given I have no ac or smog. Right now the belt is 850, so moving the pump in to the correct head hole would make it shorter.
Also, any ideas on how to fully remove the unwanted wires running behind the engine?
Thanks a million.

First, use the RIGHT belt. It's an 815K6 or equivalent.
Second, use the A/C hole and put the rear bracket back on. You will have to really haul on the tensioner to get the belt on, but it can be done. If you have trouble, get a belt an inch or 2 longer (825 or 835K6).

And I'm telling you how to do the same job without wasting time trying to look for a needle in a haystack. Even if you DID find one, you STILL need the right belt.

The belt I have on there is right. It fits my application. So a bracket does exist? Cars made without AC did have a bracket that is smaller?

make ur own bracket out of some angle iron and or flat stock, u can bend the flat stock in a vise and drill ur own holes in it .
its fairly easy as i had to ditch the rear bracket on my iroc when i built my turbo headers and make my own rear support bracket
i also did the same on my v6 car when i ditched the ac and built my headers since the factoy bracket would no longer bolt up

does your 1987 Firebird have non-serpentine v-belts? What engine? I just put the correct bracket on my 1986 LG4 v-belt setup.
