Damn. I bet you could run 10s all day long. Def high 10s at the very least as long as you get the hook. Hell with 1.6 60ft you don't have to worry about hook, lolOriginally Posted by fasteddi

What are the plans for winter? Are you going to run it again to try for a even better pass before the snow flys?

I may take it out one more time. It's going to be hard to beat a 11.70 with the crappy TC I have. But I was a tad rich and could tweak the tune a tad. Originally Posted by 1slow8t3

Plans this winter.... Drive train. And I know I'll catch hellll but this car does NOT have frame connectors. ... it will be getting them asap now.

Nice!
Not sure if I mentioned it but have you thought about Hydroboost? That's what the GN guys are using, much higher pressure and it will pretty much hold the brakes until you let off.
I have the system from an Astro van on my Nova, Pretty sure I could twist my driveshaft before the tires will spin.

I finally looked though the datalog of the pass. Built 5.78Psi before it left the line. Converter flashed at 3700rpm. Injector DC was a solid 78-80% the whole ride.
Heres a funny fact on the datalog. 1st gear lasted about 1.5 seconds......

I added the file dave. Its ziped. Looks like the boost started to creep up to that 15.0+ psi mark...lol
Also the MPH is pretty close give or take .1-1.0mph at the end.
Heres another video of the run thanks to a TGO friend.

yeah i have it in the description on youtube , i dont know how to label the gauges yet on the new race render , also the data is about .5 of a second off from the video was to hard to see exactly when the car moved to sync it up properly . so the guages are about .5 seconds ahead of the video footage but it still gives u a good visialation of whats going on with the car during the run Originally Posted by Six_Shooter

Yea i really need to work on drivetrain issues this winter. I know it's on the verge of failing.

Went to a car show over the weekend. Took the camaro and my moms 1962 Olds 98
Here is some pics of the V6s in with the classics.

I redid the motor on this beast a few years back. The car was in a garage for 20+ years. It was my gpas. Olds 394

And my fav shot of the day!

Update.
Ill be making the final race of the year friday night. Im going to be using drag radials though insted of the slicks because chances are I will be the only one going. Usually I have my GF drive up my slicks and tools and such on normal days but shes working late. 28x10 slicks are big and no way can i fit them both in the camaro.
Its suppose to be 70 and then cool off alot so im hoping for some more 11 second passes. Ill try to get a vid or 2 but i cant promise it. Ill be honest though I think 11.70 was a great accomplishment, but im not going to push the car as hard this time. Im a bracket racer at heart and I wana win some rounds this friday. So it might be slower but if its consistant again thats all that matters. Its hard to be consistant when your reving 2800rpm at the line...lol
By the time the race is over Ill have at least 45 passes on the camaro. Knock on wood, its been a good solid set up this year.

I just may. The drs are on 5.5 bs 15x10inch rims. 28 inch tall drs. So I'm not sure if they'll fit very well.
Actually I can't remember if there 9 or 10 inches wide. I'm hoping 9 inches.

if u unbolt the back seat they will fit i used to haul my 28x10.5's back there , i would just put them in large garbage bags first , they should also fit if u just flip the rear seat down and stick on on that and then antoehr back on the package shelf back as far as the hatch glass will let u put oneOriginally Posted by fasteddi

I don't bolt my back seat bottom down for easy removal for more space. They stay down on their own fine. Seat back is just two 10mm bolts a PITA to get to. But the bottoms out make a deep well.

There are some things I could do to make it faster. The cam in it is just a baby 260 grind one. But i need to work the suspension a but and drive train before I attempt to go much faster. And I'm trying to stay above that roll cage area.

Well it rained on friday so no races. I made it up there though. It rained for a bit then they called it, then it never rained again.
One fun thing is these drag radials. Man they are a blast on the road. No more 30 mph rolling burnouts....it just goes! I like it alot!!
275/60r drag radials. I really like the rims. I need to get a set of these or prostars soon.

Well the season is over. It was a great year with the ole V6. Went fast and had no issues with the car. 46 Passes at the track and quite a few miles later, i love the hybrid set up. Very fast and fun!

Thanks guys. This fall winter my main goal is to get the full exhaust put together so its quieter, get some frame connectors on it, and really thats about it. Recheck the compression and stuff like that also. I know its a 11 second car now but for sportsman bracket racing im going to dial the boost back and just aim for those consistant 12.0s next year. Then next fall, like this year, ill push it and hopefully by then i can afford a badasss Tq Converter.
1991sleeper, the IC is where it is because I now have the z28 style grill on it, so the air flow is pretty good though there. The intake temps stay pretty good even in the heat of the summer. Before i got that z28 style the IC would have been better the way your saying though as the RS louver grill really suxs for air flow.
If i had the cash on hand id really work the drive train alot but to be honest the house i own comes first. I have a pretty major project going on at the house right now.

Ok I noticed that durring this last season I had problems trying to get the boost to be low. Exspecially when i first broke in the engine.
I had a 5lbs spring in there and now a 10lbs spring in the wastegate and never could i get the think to maintain less then 12 psi. With the boost controler i could turn it up and never did i have a issue with boost spiking but heres the question..... is it just poor placement, a crappy wastegate, or too small of a wastegate?
Also I have the reference line for the gate hooked directly to the turbo port.
Opinions...thoughts?

The WG is probably a little too small now that you have a top end that moves more air. What size was it again?
Location looks decent. Does the feed to the wastegate also T-off at a 90* angle? I like to try and make the merges as smooth as possible, both before and after turbo.
Have you tried using a different source for the pressure feed? I use a manifold source for my control.

It's just a 38 mm gate.
I've tried using other vac boost sources but the result was the same. So I left it directly connected to the turbo.
The gate is connected to a straight pipe on the exhaust.
It's basically just sitting on top of a straight section of the piping. It's probly not the smoothest it the world. That could be the issue. Would a 44mm gate help the placement issue or would it stay the same?
Tonight I may take the gate off and look the diapham over and see if there is any mechanical issues.

i have a good feeling u have outgrown the gt3582's turbine wheel, or u just need a larger housing
while 90* to the inlet/outlet arent ideal they generally work ok for most builds
instead of upgrading to a 44mm gate if u deceide to go that way , get a second identical 38mm gate to the one u have now and install it in the crossover pipe

All good ideas!
I thought that maybe the exhaust was just flowing fast and since the gate is so close to the turbo that the air was just flying by the turbo. I never thought of the backpressure.
I took off the gate and saw a few things. One being that i had a minor boost leak. Nothing too major though easy fix. But the main thing i saw is that the threads are so thin on the gate that you can actually see the diaphram though the threads. Check the pic below.
I pumped up the gate and it does move. But you can blow into the boost ref port and see that its not sealed up tight. It leaks a tad. It moved the gate with 14psi on a 10psi spring. But then again i can assume that my guage and regulator set up i have made is dialed in perfect, although it works pretty well for dialing in the hobbs switch for the alky.
I have a feeling that my problem may be other reasons also but the diaphram showing sure is a issue and its irritating as before i never had issues with ebay gates but this one is not very good at all for 80 bucks. I should of sprung for a better one.
What do you think? I suppose it could also be leaking by the shaft on the WG too.

Too much tire here! Thats a 28x10.5 and its not pumped up all the way...

I wish it was nice out and i would toss i tap on the exhaust and drive it.
But like i said earlier the boost never spiked hard and dropped, never creaped too much just a touch and that was when the boost controller was on and really needed dialed in more in the ecm.
