code 33 and 34

im getting codes 33 and 34, which is 33 MAF sensor indicated air flow was more than 20 gm/sec for 2 seconds.
34 MAF sensor signal showed air flow to be less than 2 gm/sec, or the MAF circuit was shorted.

which out of these 3 options is my best route to go

1, get a can of CRC MAF cleaner for $7 and spray MAF

2. buy new MAF sensor for $60

3. since 34 says short circuit, look for other wiring problem?

Re: code 33 and 34

I am troubleshooting a similar ssue right now. What are your symptoms (the reason you checked the codes)?

Here is what I have disovered about troubleshooting MAF error codes: First, clean the MAF sensor with MAF sensor cleaner; Second, check for vacuum & air leaks, including the IAC valve, the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve, the intake, etc.. Third, run the car at idle and disconnect the MAF, if it gets rougher it's probably good, if no change or it gets better, probably bad.

Re: code 33 and 34

i checked thecodes because i was tired of driving at night with a distracting orange glow shining in my face lol, but also i am what u may call a perfectionist and have to have everything in tip top shape. i went out and got the MAF cleaner today so im gonna give a clean tomorrow and se what that does, then if nothing improves ill move on to the other sensors and such
