Code 33/34? 1992 V6 3.1L MPFI/MFI Doesn't Downshift
So I've got a 1992 RS 3.1L MPFI that I recently replaced the ignition module on. After sitting for a week or two, the car would start to smell like raw gas (for a while now). Now I'm getting a Code 33 and a Code 34 flashing, but only at idle or when I let off the throttle at speed. The SES light goes off if I'm accelerating. When I get up to 2nd gear and then slow down, the car just keeps accelerating; it won't downshift at the normal spot. It's just accelerating on it's own when it shouldn't be. I've replaced/tested the TPS, MAP, IAC, and every vacuum line I could find. I cleaned out the IAC and the throttle body, only other thing I can think of is to adjust the TV cable. Also, it's a 700r4 automatic. I don't have a vacuum gauge, but the vacuum to the EECS charcoal canister is pretty weak (can't feel it much at idle; can only hear it). The vacuum line to the in-line control valve to the fuel tank was disconnected, but connecting it didn't change anything. Any thoughts?

You won't feel much to the canister valve at idle (no, I don't mean the solenoid) because the valve's vacuum source is PORTED, which means it only gets full manifold vacuum if the throttle plate is opened. However, you do have an issue if you can't get vacuum on the larger line at idle. Also check the vacuum source to the MAP.
The 700R4 is NOT vacuum dependent. If you feel you must adjust the TV cable, do it with the engine off. Push the metal clip in on the retainer, push the cable body back into the retainer, and push down on the gas pedal until at WOT (again, engine NOT running). The TV cable will adjust itself.
IF YOU ADJUST THE TV CABLE IMPROPERLY, THE TRANS WILL GET COOKED IN SHORT ORDER.

I checked the vacuum source to the MAP and it seems to be fine. When I adjust the TV, am I moving the square plastic runner that slides inside the housing? Is this supposed to be adjusted into the housing, or farther out? Thanks

Push the metal clip in, and push the part that the cable comes out of towards the engine until it's all the way in. Then use the go pedal to pull the cable back out again.
