bad oil leak

Over the next week or so im gonna keep this thread updated. Basicly IMO i think this leak i commin from the base of the distributor. But i may be wrong here is a pic tell me what you think?

Can't see the pic but it could easily be the o-ring on the distributor shaft. It's pretty cheap to replace at least.

Yes, you are one-hundred percent correct. The distributor shaft o-ring is a known issue, with the RWD 2.8, 3.1, and 3.4L V6s. Yes the 3.4L has a distributor shaft, just minus the distributor, and yes it leaks too.

There are two ways to correct it. 1. Get an o-ring for a V8 chevy distributor and use that. 2. And this is the one I recommend, as the ceramic coated reluctor coils are prone to failure on our stock V6 distributors, replace youer entire distributor. Autozone remans carry a lifetime warranty, and they have an improved reluctor coil design.

Plan on replacing the ICM every couple of years, as that distrubutor is in a terrible location to remain cool. NAPA's Eklin brand of ICM carries a 5-year warranty. Get one, install it, and make best use of that 5-Year warranty.
