which flywheel needed?? for v6 manual

Car: 1985 camaro Z/28
Engine: 305 V/8 4bbl carb
Transmission: T5 WC
Axle/Gears: 3-23 posi with 4 wheel discs
which flywheel needed?? for v6 manual

hi, i just picked up a 1984 firebird 2.8 v6 automatic,,,the owner also gave me a manual T5 and most of the parts for a swap to manual,,why not?
the only issue is that the car i a 1984 but the v6 has been replaced,,it is carb engine...which and where would i get a manual flywheel to do my swap? thanks.

You need to either find out what year the engine is from or remove the flex plate to find out if it has a weight on it or not. There are two types of flywheels; '82-'87 and '88-'95. 82-87 have a weight on them and are not neutrally balanced. 88-95 are neutrally balanced.

Just because it has a carb on it doesn't mean it's a pre-88 engine necessarily.

You should be able to find the casting number on the block, I believe on the back of the driver's side, right by the bellhousing. Hopefully its not too dirty to read.
