Question about housing for the idle air sensor
Ok i went to take my idle air valve off and the bolts broke off in it so i drilled them and re threaded them and in the process it broke the housing. I've looked all over for a aftermarket setup but didn't have no results. Anybody have a source that they have got them from? I found a throttle body from a lumina that looks identical to mine its from a 3.1 as well so i may get it for now just for the idle air plate but for the time being i'm just gonna keep my zip ties, tie wire and jb weld holding it together as of now its running fine. But if i can get a aftermarket one mainly for looks that would be ok with me.

The FWD throttle body WILL NOT WORK. I've been there and tried that after having problems of my own. The throttle linkage is in the wrong spot.
There is no aftermarket TB for both gen 1 and gen 2 60* V6... Gen 3 has one.
There are a couple of people parting V6 cars in the Classifieds. Also, contact fasteddi as he's got a bunch of V6 stuff.

Re: Question about housing for the idle air sensor
Those bolts on the throttle body break very easy. I've broken 3 so far. 2 I broke off putting the bolts back on. One was only half way in before it broke. I DID NOT OVER TIGHTEN, nor did I cross thread, & I used plenty of PB Blaster.
I found a replacement set of throttle body bolts for my V6 for $50 plus shipping. Ouch. So I bought an $8 set of bolts for a V8 off Ebay. Doesn't have the same number of bolts, but has both sizes needed on my 3.1L.
GM must have used dirt cheap throttle body bolts from China. Thanks for letting me rant. I feel better now.

It's not that GM used Chinese bolts, it's that the bolts are small diameter and they're steel. Galvanic corrosion, caused by the difference in metals between the aluminum housings and the steel bolts, is a PITA. Wait until you get the pleasure of needing to work on the headlight motors. They have the same issue. Use anti-seize when you put the stuff back together.

Actually, I replaced both headlamp motors over a year ago. Cost me total of $320; $160 for each new motor. Learned my lesson, I'll just rebuild next time.

When needed, a pair of 3/8" ball bearings are a TON cheaper than the nylon POS bushings and will NEVER wear out.
