Looking at a V6 92' RS 25th Anniversary (Need Advice)
Sup guys,
Looking into purchasing a 1992 Camaro RS Anniversary Edition. Need some advice on pulling the trigger or not.
Car has 200k miles on the body
Supposedly 50Kish on the motor which is the 3.1 60* motor
Needs battery, fired right up when jumped though motor sounds good just has a bad exhaust leak and squeaky *** belts.
Heat worked, all the AC stuff is there but the belts aren't ran to the AC compressor not sure why.
Catback needs a hangar or 2
Automatic trans, shifted good didn't detect any issues from the short drive.
Interior is really clean which surprised the hell out of me for such a high mileage car.
Car drove surprisingly solid, has little rust underneath nothing big from what i can see. Typical battery tray rot.
Here's what scares me though, car was hit in the front end and the radiator support/bumper support is bent on the driver side, not all that bad though.
Car was planning to be my beater and fix as i go along. I already own a third gen Trans Am. Wouldn't mind getting myself into a Camaro as a daily.
Price: Talked her down to $450, let me know what you guys think. Should i pass on this cause of the front end damage or jump on it.. For the price i was thinking this is a pretty good deal.. Didn't take too many pics but you get the idea. I'd be doing 90% of the mechanical work myself.
Thanks fellas.

Id pull the trigger on any car that runs and drives as well as you make it sound for 450. Third gen, 25th anniversary camaro? Absolutely. Do it. Unless the damage is causing any mechanical problems at least.

that damage doesn't look too expensive to fix. id jump on that, if youre lucky the exhaust leak is just a flange needing replaced

Bought it and took it home, ran good the whole way home put some fresh gas etc. Transmission has a bad leak only when i add the final 3 qts though, hoping its a pan gasket or something small lol pray for me

It rare but check the tranny fluid lines that connect to the Trans and Radiator. Hopefully it just needs the pan tightened down a tad.
For 450 bucks though.... that is a steal. You could part it out and tripple your money so that car you have is a good investment!
Beware that the trans fluid level and tv cable is crutial. Dont drive it if its low on trans fluid/keep a close eye on it. And dont over fill it either as that will cause even more problems.

yea man you made out like a bandit if a $450 car can drive you home without dying. check your tranny lines under the car. I bought an 88 once that was losing fluid and it was just one of them lines

Thanks for the advice guys, had some fun yesterday tidying up the car yesterday.
It does indeed look like the pan gasket which is awesome, picking up a filter and a new gasket today i'll let you know how it goes.

Somebody must have prayed for me, it was indeed the pan gasket on the transmission. She's bone dry now, no leaks!!!!! WOO
Things i've done so far:
Shifter cable
Transmission filter & gasket
Transmission Mount
Oil change
Rear Sway bar end links - one was missing and the other one was broke
Cut the silly *** towbar off lol
Changed some interior bulbs
Detailed the interior
Checked the donut gasket on the passenger side where i have my crazy leak, donut is good must be the manifold
Looking at good progress so far, forgot to take pics of everything should really make a build thread lol
