Poor mpg
I have a 3.1 in my bird. I had to replace the fule pump a few months back so I replaced the filter and strainer as well. Anyway getting poor mpg like 200 miles per tank also seem to have presure in the tank as well as a humming noise when I've got about a 1/4 tank of gas left. Any ideas or suggestions guys thanks.

Re: Poor mpg
Could be lot of things. Doing a good ole tune up might help. Plugs, wires, cap and rotor, make sure the sensors all work, stuff like that. Does the exhaust smell rich all the time?
I wouldnt think the fuel pump or filtration has any issues. Although your charcoal canister may have some problems if its building pressure. But from my own experience, having the canister removed and other emission, it wont hurt the mpgs as bad as what you are saying. Your getting like 14mpgs or so. Is this mainly city driving or highway averages also?

Re: Poor mpg
Thanks! Mpg is a combo of hwy/city I replaced the plugs an o2 but I am getting a code 13. I do smell gas most of the time. Thanks for the info.
Re: Poor mpg
Code 13 is a faulty oxygen sensor. Did you have this code with the orignal part? If you did not and the conector is good and all the way on put the old back in reset the ECM and check your codes.
If you smell the gas under the hood pull the vacuum line of the fuel pressure regulator and see if has gas or a strong gas smell. If it does have gas in the vacuum hose replace the regulator.
I would test the fuel pressure on the fuel rail and also make sure it holds close to normal pressure for atleast 15 minutes. Leaking fuel injectors are another possible problem. The fuel pressure test will help you to find the problem.Fuel pressure should around 38-46 psi.
