RS Muffler Delete?

Muffler on my car is busted, it actually exploded at some point, I'm not sure when. In Ebay a good one (from Dynomax) would run me +/- 100 USD + shipping, my budget is about 150 USD when stretching it but another thing to keep in consideration is the shipping times, as the car won't really be driveable with most of the exhaust spraying from over the left rear wheel. So I was also wondering what would be the possibilities with welding some pipes to be able to fit there instead? Not true straightpipes as I've got the cat still in place, but I do love the sound that the car currently makes and it isn't -too- loud fortunately. Another option would be a place nearby where they manufacture custom exhaust pieces, they could make me a muffler but then I wouldn't know what type to have made and I don't think it'd fit within my budget. Will still call them Monday for a price indication but really if the semi-straightpipe idea could work oot I'd definitely want to go for that option most. Thanks in advance for your tips, tricks and advise, guys!

You can just cut it off at the muffler and leave the pipe hanging by the passenger side bracket. It wont really "spray" anything on to the driver side wheel if it's removed at the muffler inlet, since that's on the passenger side. Mine rusted off at the muffler inlet once and I had to drive it the same way, no damage done.
Regarding sound, its a personal preference, as long as you don't have any noise ordinances to abide by.

Thanks for the suggestion, man! That's actually a pretty good idea, and could always repair stuff or go for something custom later. Wouldn't be so bad to have something sweet hanging from under the rear fender ;] or I could try to make something out of my spare y-pipe but I doubt that'd work real well unless I'd want a single tip, which I don't.

Re: RS Muffler Delete?

The muffler rusted through at the inlet on my dads camaro and broke.
With the muffler just hanging there we Took it completely off and he drove it to work, back home and then to the exhaust shop.
I thought the factory exhaust with converter and no muffler sounded pretty nice.

Re: RS Muffler Delete?

When my car was still an auto I took the muffler out, brought it to the exhaust shop and had them put a y in from the 3in pipe to 2.5in tailpipes and some tips. But you could go real cheap and just put a turndown on that pipe.

My temporary solution before I'll be able to take the Camaro past the custom exhaust shop ;P

Yeah, I will get one from the guy at the custom exhaust shop though, he has the exact same ones as far as I know, shipped in by great numbers, for decent prices as well! I wonder though, are the more expensive ones really worth it or how does that work? Guess I'll ask him to demonstrate a few before I pick one, kinda low on budget now though but this is the kind of thing you should kinda do right once and not have to correct later.

I put two of those thrush 2.5'' mufflers on my suburban and it sounded nice.
But I prefer the straight pipe coming off the T76 a little bit more.
