When at normal operating temperature my car does not accelerate smoothly. All of the ignition parts are new (with exception of the high tensoin coil), i don't see an air restriction so the problem has to be fuel related. There is not an easy way to come by a fuel pressure gauge around here that fits these GM-test plugs so i went ahead and measured all injectors. All 6 of them measure 16.5 or 16.6 ohm, measured with 2 different multi-meters. They should be 12 ohm right? Are they all bad or are they maybe not the originals to begin with. I do not see fuel at the vacuum port of the pressure regulator so i think it's ok too. I had a simular problem a couple of weeks ago and then did a major tune-up including these ignition parts and a fuel filter. It solved the problem but now it's back. I will have to order such a fuel pressure gauge after all, don't I?

I think two different types of injectors were used in 1988. I have an 88 firebird and mine measured around 16 ohms when i tested them over a year ago. They needed cleaning before they worked well. I sent them out and had them ultasonic cleaned and new pintle caps installed.
Now after spending $100 to have them rebuilt I would just have ordered a new set from Southbay.They offer a discount for TGO members.
Not being the original owner I did not know for sure, but thought they were the orignal based on the part number on the injectors.

 

There seriously needs to be a FAQ on the V6...

Any 2.8 fuel injector measuring over 11.4 ohms is perfectly good. Any less and throw it out.
