Wont come out !!!!!
Wont come out !!!!!
Having a nightmare.
My cars been sitting good few years want to get it back on the road.
Need to replace distributor, inside rusted to hell. Got a brand new replacement sitting ready to go in.
Caps off, rotor arm is off. clamp round base is off.
It won't pull out!!
Base turns so not seized to base.
Tried turning, pulling even put a lever in under base plate and that came away from main body column.
Is there something else holding it or am I missing something.

not really. It should pop out. Really if you just disconnect the wires and take off the hold down tab it should come out. Tap the base a bit and see if that helps.
There is nothing else holding it in there.

They can get stuck due to dirt build up above the O-ring. The O-ring also hardens over time, so it doesn't like to compress to lift right out.
You just need to keep at it, twisting it back and forth, while applying upward pressure on it, until it comes out. Using some sort of a penetrant that will soften the O-ring could help as well.
