Not exactly the same motor or year, but I have a 1987 Sport Coupe with a Stock 2.8. Only upgrade is magnaflow exhaust (2.25 inch) and rebuilt front and rear suspension (stiffer results in a better launch? I have no idea...) and I drove it to the strip and it ran a 17.54 at 74 Mph. Stock gears on it, 3.42, non posi.

Im doing the MSD coil, wires, cap and rotor upgrades this winter as well. Hoping maybe in the lower 17's for me.

My 1991 Camaro Rs with the 3.1L auto in it, ran the best of a 16.89@77Mph and that was with some really good fall air(1000 or less DA). This was completly stock with me in it (ME=180lbs) Most of the time drag racing it though it ran low 17s.
