Car been setting for ten years. Help

Just got a 85 2.8 firebird, the original engine was swapped for Goodwrench 2.8 long block. The engine has about 6 thousand miles on it. The catch is it was changed in 2004 and has setup for the last eight years. What is it going to take to get it road worthy again. By the way one of reasons it was setup was the Goodwrench engine turned out to be Extremely weak. It turned into a real dog. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried to start it yet? If it runs, we can go from there, but we need to know where you stand w/ it first.

That was what I was wondering about. Do you think I should drop the tank and all before I fire it up?

I say try to fire it up, or at least syphon the gas out, put some new in with a new filter and see how she does. I wouldn't drop the tank unless the pump is dead.

Re: Car been setting for ten years. Help

I would not risk cloggin injectors, id rev flush it and empty out at the filter, then put on a new filter, to grab junk in back part of lines, that the filter sock wouldn't let escape anyways. But new filter will grab it. Change it soon after 1-2 tank fulls. MMO is good to run heavy in the gas n lube the lines n fuel system moving parts. Smell good too

id watch the cat or for a sudden loss of power, they can either work great, or from sitting long, soon after crumble n clogg up.

how do you recommend reverse flushing it? Can I just use air and gas? Where should I hook up to????
