Rear freeze plug leak, what would you do?

I have a coolant leak at the back of my 2.8. I'm assuming it's a freeze plug, but I won't know until I see the back of the block.

Would you recommend I pull the engine or pull the 700r4? I've done both, but not in a thirdgen.

All advice is appreciated, thanks.

Still waiting to do this to my 3.1 V6. Initially planned on dropping the tranny but realized I would have to get the car pretty high. So I resolved myself to pull the engine and replace them all. Still haven't done it yet though.

I would recommend pulling the engine. Use it as the opportunity to replace hard to get to seals, etc (assuming this isn't a daily driver).

You do not need to pull the engine. Done the whole story in April last year. You have 6 plugs in the V6. 3 on the back of the block, 1 on the front and 1 on the left and one on the right side of the block.
Removed the transmission, starter, knock sensor and the oil filter adapter. The easiest one on the front doesn't need any parts removed.
But I must admit that I have my own auto lift. With just a jack I wouldn't try it...
