1987 Camaro, NO POWER

Alright, Ive got a 1987, STOCK sport coupe, 2.8L T5, and last couple months have been HELL. It started a couple months ago, the fuel pump went. I changed that, along with fuel filter, and put her back on the road, and since then, the car will not go. It has no power, pulling out on the main road is all but impossible. Interstate driving can be achieved, but its screaming. and I haven't been able to use 5th gear since it went down. I have changed just about all I know too. It has new plugs, new wires, new cap and button, new coil. What else do I do? It was never a ball a fire, but it would go through the gears, and cruising at 80 in 5th was never an issue. Any ideas???? Injectors????? I'm lost, thanks, 3rdgens4life

From what you're describing, plugged cat? Also, how does it idle, does it rev fine in neutral or stumble through the RPMs? Have you checked fuel pressure since you replaced the pump?

It starts and runs, idles beautifully. The revs will happen, but slowly, its not the cat, its been removed. When I go to take off, ill put the petal through the floor, and itll just poke along until it slowly gets rpms up. I almost have to redline it the change gears. its funny. fuel pressure is spot on. its cranks up and idles so good, that's why I think its the injectors.

Hi there,
I had a Saturn with the same symptoms: idled great, but no power at all. Turned out to be worn-out exhaust valves. It required a cylinder head rebuild, and new valves. Can you do a compression test, and coolant system pressure test? That would be a dead giveaway.

alrighty, I did a compression test, and coolant pressure, all perfect. So all I'm left is injectors. I reckon imma give that a go, and see where that leaves me. Imma have a new engine before long at this pace.

Have you put a fuel pressure gauge on it and watched it as you rev it in neutral? I'm wondering if your fuel pressure regulator may be bad or if you have a vacuum leak to it. Not ruling out injectors, just trying to help eliminate anything easier and cheaper first.
