'83 2.8l fuel pump troubleshooting

Where is the fuel pump located on my 1983 2.8l v6. What's the best way to replace it

Its an early car so I could be wrong but its above the tank, which is above the axle.
There are many threads on how to get to it as some people cut through the chassis from inside under the carpet and make a access hatch, some dont like this so Some people just drop the axle and tank.

82-84 V6 has a carb and the fuel pump for it is on the front driver's side of the block. The tank has only the sending unit in it, same as the V8 carb cars.
