Need some help on a 1987 2.8 Camaro...somethings missing...

Hi folks, I'm trying to add some aftermarket gauges to my nephew's 1987 2.8 liter Camaro and I came across a strange issue. While hunting for his oil pressure switch and water temp switch I found this:

Something is missing in that hole to the left. It's got oil in it as well and looks to be leaking on the exhaust pipe. Can someone direct me as to what should be in there? We just bought this car so we're working out all the bugs on this one.

Also does anyone know where the temperature switch is on the 2.8 V6? Thank you in advance.

The picture above is from the drivers side looking down. The white object to the right is the oil filter.

I'm thinking this may be a oil cooler line. Never knew these cars had those.

You're not missing anything. That's a machining hole and you should find a Welch plug in that hole.

Okay thanks for the info. I'll investigate further when I work on the car at my nephews tomorrow.

The temp sensor is located on the driver side head near the ac mounting braket. I dont remember off hand were the relay is iirc its on the driver side firewall can anyone confirm this?
Hope that helps

Hi there,
Yes the relay is on the firewall on the driver's side. right next to the hood hinge. If you have A/C, from right to left they would be
A/C
fuel pump
radiator fan
