Re: Hello please help

Hi there,
I would suggest looking at the headlamp relay. I think it is located under the hood, back by the power brake booster on the firewall. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Re: Hello please help

Austin Third Gen is a great resource for wiring diagrams: http://www.austinthirdgen.org/index.php?pid=19

Our cars don't have a headlamp relay (at least not the '91s). There are three relays next to the brake booster; one handles the fuel pump and the other two run one fan apiece. There is a fog light relay as well, which I assume is only present if you have fog lamps.

My suggestion would be to check the fusible link as well. Put your car up on jack stands, crawl under there, and look at the starter. There are two connection points with four ring terminals and a total of five wires. Ignore the small purple wire and the heavy gauge wire from the battery. That leaves two ring terminals, one with one wire and one with two. Those sections of wire are your fusible links (conveniently located, eh?). They should be orange with a black section, unless they've already been replaced in the past (in which case they might just look like normal wire). Check those to see if they're bad, and replace if needed.

I don't have any HVAC stuff in my car so I can disconnect everything from the starter and pass it out through the top of the car; you might be stuck working under the car.

This might help:

The area in red is likely where your problem lies (since you said you bought a new switch). The whole diagram is available here: http://austinthirdgen.org/mkportal/m...ody_wiring.gif
