Re: valves and timing

What do you mean you have timing set on 0? If it won't run, you don't know what your base timing is at. Do you mean you having the marks on the cam/crank sprockets lined up?
What's your fuel pressure? You may have fuel, but do you have enough?
Since this isn't a thirdgen vehicle, you'll probably have better luck here: https://isuzuforums.com/forum/rodeo-17/
We would only really have the basics of that engine or generic trouble shooting ideas, not specific fuel management or any other details related to that vehicle.

Re: valves and timing

As crazy as it sounds, it is the same 3.1l engine that is in our cars. Although it is TBI but uses a GM ECM and EFI setup (1228838, same as the 3.1l TBI Lumina vans).

One thing to keep in mind is that the #1 cylinder is on the passenger side (not the drivers).

A compression check will show whether the valves are adjusted correctly or not.

RBob.

Re: valves and timing

I know the basic longblock is the same, but since our cars didn't come with this fuel system (carbed or MPFI), most of us aren't going to be too familiar with it. Not trying to push him away, just trying to guide him somewhere that may be more helpful and get more answers. Some of us can provide generic suggestions, but, especially with the age of this vehicle and the age of most in this forum, the help may be a bit sparse.
