Trans question

So as i have posted before my trans went out on my firebird 2.8. Just bought a 700r4 from an s15 that was parted out after years of storage with only 40k miles on it. That being said i just want to know if the swap is good or will i have to swap rear housings to make everything fit. Just mking sure so no surprises when i go to swap them.

The trans came out of a truck with a 2.8? It looks right. I'm sure some research on the net would help. The length looks fine but I would double check before doing the swap. Measure the overall length and also the cross member bolts to the tail end..and also the over all tail section.

Like I mentioned in that other swap thread that drdave88 found , unless your running some kind of custom torque arm relocation bracket , yes you will need to remove the tailshaft housing from the old and put it on the new . See the three holes cast into this tailshaft housing ? Those are for the torque arm that our differential uses (and that the S-10 doesn't) .

PS , I have no idea about the speedo gearing , I just know that those three holes are crucial to a successful 700R4 install into a stock version of our beloved third gen F bodies .

Re: Trans question

So Pulled my trans out and i will never forget the smell of burt trans fluid. Had to swap rear housing, dipstick, speed sensor, trans mount, and switch shift levers because of the s15 trans. other than dealing with autozones messed up order for my new torque converter that is as far as i got but my brother is gonna finish for me. I'll let you know results when i know more.
