Starting a 91 that sat for 16 years.

Title. I bought a 91 camaro that sat for 16 years. Got the electrical system running. Got new oil and oil filter. Aside from new gas, what do I need to do to make it turn over? I'm looking for engine problems. I'm not gonna drive it around, just make sure it turns over.

Assuming it turns over, what do I need to replace to make it run good? I want a list, if possible, of everything that can go bad, and I'll replace it. So far, I have the following:

All fluids(brake, oil, ATF, windshield wiper, coolant)
Tyres
Thermomiter right next to throttle body
Shocks
All weather plastics
All caps to important systems(radiator cap, oil fil cap, etc.. They'll ALL bad)
Steering wheel(previous owner broke it)
Tank(Maybe. How do I know if its bad?)
Oil filter, fuel filter, transmission filter(I don't know if 91s have these, they should in the pan, right?)
New gas and siphon old gas
New spark plugs
New battery

Shocks are in extremely good condition.

Is there anything else I need to check before I start driving it? Anything I need to do before I attempt to turn it over?

Thanks so much --

Jarad

PS: If this is the wrong subforum point me towards the right one please

I’m sure you will be looking at a new fuel pump and probably injectors.

Re: Starting a 91 that sat for 16 years.

Mine sat in a field for 11 years roughly, here is what was done to mine. Dropped tank and cleaned, disconnected fuel lines at intake and blew them out, new pump and sending unit. All new injectors (tpi), replaced all manifold gaskets, new plugs, wires, rotor button, cap, and ignition control module, drained radiator and replaced coolant, new thermostat, changed oil and filter, put a hot battery in and fired it up. Once it was running good it got all new brakes, front bearings, changed differential fluid, atf and new filter, new suspension bushings, and I forgot to mention a new air filter. I will advise you if the fuel tank is nasty I recommend replacing it when you do your pump if you have too. I will be dropping mine tomorrow and putting a new one in. You can probably skip a lot on my list and replace things as needed but I went on with the thought of getting it all done on the front end rather than later. If yours was stored inside that is a big plus.

All vacuum lines, pcv valve, egr valve and most important the condition of all brake lines.

Depending on where it sat, you'll want to look for damage to wiring from mice/rats/etc chewing on it.

that would suck, I would check fluid level , run it up to temp . Change all fluids. Drive it . Just fix things that end up not working .
