Car sat for two years

Hey guys got a 91 rs here. 305 with a 5 speed. Car sat for two years besides tires and fluid change is there anything else I should be worried about? Buying it for short money and want to get it road worthy while the summer is here. Don't want to miss anything or get over my head in repair costs. Thanks!

Re: Car sat for two years

if it were me, i would change ALL the fluids.. that means the gas tank too.. i would probably dissassemble and clean out the carb.. clean the air filter, grease what needs/can be greased.. probably change the fuel filter as well.. then try fire her up.. dont try start her with old gas.. idk everything but i know its not good for the motor..

i second that advice. definately drain all the gas from the tank, and change the filter. make sure all belts are good, too.

Re: Car sat for two years

I agree with changing all the fluids as well. Don't forget the the rear end oil as well. I just got my RS back on the road after sitting for two years too (fuel pump went out and I let sit too long). A few other things I looked at were the stabilizer bushings and end link bushings on the front and rear. If it sat for two years and was outside it is possible they have dry rotted. You can replace them with stock rubber bushings relatively inexpensively or it would be a perfect time to swap to some polyurethane bushings. Good luck!

Re: Car sat for two years

He says he started it a year ago. So it sat for a year and he started it with old gas and old oil then let it sit another year. It's going to need 4 tires also. Sounds like it's not worth the investment it's going to take.
