Oil Pressure Gauge - Dummy to Actual

I know I've found the answer before, but I haven't had any luck in the search bar. My Firebird came stock with the dummy oil pressure gauge. I've since swapped in one with an actual reading, but I wanted to get it to read correctly. What is the proper way to accomplish this?

Electric oil pressure sensor wire to gauge. Likely a sensor for the idiot light already there so unscrew that screw in oil pressure sensor connect to input side of gauge. The sensor is at the back of the engine near the distributor and to right.

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge - Dummy to Actual

Are you saying you switched from a idiot light to a gauge. Or you are running a aftermarket gauge ?
I believe the 3.1l sender is on the side of the block (maybe bye the oil filter)but if someone who knows chimes in.

stock gauge, I took apart my cluster and put in the actual oil pressure gauge.

Similar to this:

So will simply swapping the sending unit work?

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge - Dummy to Actual

Sounds like you just need to swap the sender for one intended to operate a gauge not light.

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge - Dummy to Actual

Not positive. It I think it’s acdelco 19244497
It’s odd the application listing says 91 Pontiac but not 92
And shows for v8 as well.

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge - Dummy to Actual

You will probably have to hard wire direct to gauge it self since factory plug in is not likely active for oil pressure gauge since you had a dummy in there.

It should have a blue wire for the ops signal running through c100 onto the gauge. It also is the switch for the fuel pump and would contain two orange wires or a orange and grey wire. So if there is any differences it would be in the instrument panel.
