What is this popping noise I'm hearing???

Ok, here's the deal. I just got my car out of the shop this past Friday. They replaced my intake gasket, plenum gasket, both valve cover gaskets and the distributor o-ring. I drove it home and everything was alright and it still runs just fine. But one thing that bothers me now is that once the car gets warmed up after driving it for an hour or so I start to hear a popping sound and I can feel it in the gas pedal. Every time it pops I feel the pop in the pedal. Does any1 know what this could be. I figured that they might have not gotten the accelerator cable on right or something, but then wouldn't it do it all the time. I first figured that b/c my shift points are a little different too which I"m sure is from the tv cable being adjusted different. I just hope its not serious b/c I need my car everyday to go to college and to go see my girl. Any ideas??

sounds like the car might be backfiring or missing... Does the tach fluctuate at all? Does the entire car stop accellerating for a split second? Is it an audible pop or is it just a tension you feel in the peddle? Give us more to work with here.

It does sound sort of like a backfire, but it's not really loud. The car does seem to have lost some power since I got it back. I also noticed today that on the interstate at around 60-70 mph the car would bog down and then surge, but there was no popping noise when it done this. There is slight hesitation when the popping noise occurs but worse when it didn't. It also seems that I'm getting worse gas milage as well. For the record my plugs and wires only have about 3k miles on them and I just cleaned my K&Ns 2 days before it went into the shop. My cap and rotor are less than a year old as well. Anys ideas?

Maybe you should re-check the timing...?
