an o2 sensor is a device that tells your computer how lean or rich your air to fuel ratio is so that your computer can adjust it to make it perfect (14.7 : 1) in our cars it is located just after the y pipe meets, and yes you need it

no, i dont believe so. it the thing that screws into your exaust with a wire coming from it(purple if i remember correctly)
